It’s not a meteor impact, large solar flare, or nuclear war that could cause an Extinction Level Event to humanity, but nuclear reactor meltdowns through, war, sabotage, human error, or natural disaster.
In my opinion at the present time, nuclear power technology has become the greatest danger to the survival of the human race. There are around 1,000 nuclear reactors in the world, 442 for generating electricity, 250 research reactors, and the rest are military. Fifty two are in Japan, a very earthquake active zone. There are plans to build another 50+ nuclear power reactors for generating electricity in India and China, in the next decade alone.
All we need is for a couple more nuclear plants to suffer similar disasters to Fukushima, and the world will become so contaminated with radiation that the human race will be wiped out. Before the Fukushima disaster, radiation pollution from nuclear reactors and depleted uranium munitions were already causing male sperm counts to drop dramatically, increased birth defects, and increases in cancer rates.
The corporate press are not conveying the true seriousness of the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Look at what has happened at Fukushima, three reactors have melted down, melted through their containments into the reactor buildings dry wells, and are now melting their way out through the concrete containments and heading for the water table. This should be world wide news headlines! Have you heard this in the main stream press? NO! The human toll and the economic cost of the Fukushima nuclear disaster is going to be huge.
This is the China syndrome three times over. An unprecedented nuclear disaster that the Nuclear Industry said this could not happen, let alone happen three times. There should be a world wide multi nation effort to contain this disaster as quickly as possible. It does not just affect Japan, but all life on this planet.
It has got a whole lot worse. The Japanese Government has admitted they have 14 Nuclear reactors that had been seriously damaged, not just the 4 at the Fukushima Nuclear disaster site.
The press is so controlled by corporate interests that they will not tell you the truth, that we are now in the middle of the world’s greatest industrial accident, and that millions of men, women and children will die prematurely because of the effects of it. It is continually releasing huge amounts of radiation into the world environment. It is going to eventually affect everyone world wide. The whole northern hemisphere has been contaminated to some degree, and it will take another 6 months or so before the radiation starts to contaminate the southern hemisphere, as the northern and southern air streams mix. Even if a country is nuclear free it can be severely affected by the fallout of another country‘s nuclear disaster.
To make the situation clearer, watch this documentary video. People getting sick in Japan evacuate Fukushima There are approximately 300,000 Japanese men, women, and children who are still living in highly contaminated Fukushima city. They all should be evacuated!
Governments quietly raise the so called safe radiation levels when disasters like this occur. Want proof, watch this video “Becquerels” and Japan’s changing “safety” standards for radiation in food and water” and read this “EU secretly ups cesium safety level in food 20-fold” These are two clear examples of governments raising safe levels for radiation exposure by 20x to 30x. So when the radiation levels go up they will tell you they tested below safety levels!
It’s criminal how bad it is, a crime against humanity. There should be people in prison for this. All our governments are complicit in remaining quiet to protect the nuclear industry. Money and power rule instead of compassion, and concern for our fellow human beings. There is lots that could have been done to quickly evacuate people from known radiation hot spots in Japan. Radiation hot spots have been discovered way outside the present exclusion zone around the Fukushima nuclear disaster. Some of these radiation hots spots are hundreds of kilometers away from the Fukushima Nuclear plant. The authorities know where these hot spots are! They knew within days of the disaster. Lots of food sources are also now contaminated. Governments world wide should be testing our food for this. Instead of saying “Everything is fine, go back to watching your soaps, and sport.”
The documentary video above focuses on Fukushima city, but the radiation released from the Fukushima nuclear disaster has contaminated large areas of the Pacific Ocean, Japan, Alaska, Hawaii, and particularly the west coast of Canada, northern west Mexico, and the west coast of the USA. The fallout caesium-137 map below covers estimations up to early June 2011. Caesium-137 has a half life of 30 years. This map does not include all the other many types of radioactive isotopes in this type of radiative fallout. The map was created by French CEREA: Atmospheric dispersion of radionuclides from the Fukushima-Daichii nuclear power plant, :

The Global cooperative site provides a very detailed view of the true radiation fallout from Fukushima in the first months of the disaster. http://globalcooperative.wordpress.com/2011/05/18/radiation-map-analysis-europe-australasia/
Because of the continual release of radiation from the crippled nuclear reactors at Fukushima these areas are continually being re-contaminated with higher doses of radiation. This is not going to stop any time soon! It is like layers of radioactive paint continually being added to the environment. There have already been independent medical reports of 35% spike in infant mortality in the North Western USA, and 48% in Philadelphia. A per review study released at the end of 2011 found that in the first 14 weeks of the disaster an estimated 14,000 people, mainly under one year olds, died as a direct result of the Fukushima radiation fallout that fell over the USA! There appear to be large numbers of people being admitted to Japanese hospitals for radiation sickness. Again not reported in the main stream press.
Independent radiation testing in Tokyo has found up to ten hot radioactive particles per day being breathed in by its inhabitants, and up to 5 hot particles a day in Seattle in the USA. People living in Japan, Alaska, Canada and the USA should be educated as to what to do to help protect themselves and their families from the fallout presently affecting them. Rather than these people being provided truthful information so they could act to protect themselves, Governments have chosen to hide the truth to protect the nuclear industry. I have a friend in Australia who has a Geiger counter and recently he purchased four music CDs from Japan. Three tested OK but one had elevated radiation levels of 0.35 uSv/hr in the packaging. Three CDS where old stock, one was a new release. This means there were dangerous radiative particles on the CD packaging. Breathing in hot particles is serious danger to human health. Hot radioactive particles can continually radiate tissues with high radiation if ingested.
The new tents that they are building to cover the damaged Fukushima reactors will not stop the continual release of amounts of radiation. Stories in the corporate press will try and make out this is progress in containment, it will not be. It will just distribute the radiation to other locations through the exhaust stacks. It will just make the Fukushima reactor site safer for the workers trying to fix this mess.
The amount of radiation released from the Fukushima Nuclear Disaster has far exceeded what was released by the Chernobyl nuclear disaster and it does not look like being stopped any time soon. As I understand it at present, they pump 50 tons of water onto the molten blobs, wait until this evaporates as radioactive stream, and then pump on another 50 tons of water. They are hanging on by their fingernails trying to contain these monsters!
Chernobyl needs another billion dollar concrete and steel sarcophagus to contain the radiation from this 25 year old nuclear disaster. Plastic tents are being built to cover the Fukushima reactors. What a joke! Funding for the new necessary Chernobyl sarcophagus is not forth coming, so over hundreds of years who will fund future containments? Add to this the Fukushima nuclear disaster, and you are going to have large areas of uninhabitable dead zones in the Ukraine and Japan for centuries to come.
Anyone looking at this situation with some intelligence would be saying we need to start a world wide program to shut down nuclear reactors, and stop using depleted uranium munitions. There is so much money and power tied up in the nuclear industry that the interest of the majority and life on this planet is coming second. This is madness! Nuclear power is not cheap it comes at a terrible price.

Very interesting info !Perfect just what I was looking for! “To see what is right, and not to do it, is want of courage or of principle.” by Lisa Alther.
I was looking through some of your articles on this website and I conceive this site is rattling instructive! Continue putting up.
Hi Sccc, Neat Post, I know this is not the biggest issue in the planet, but I am a bit curious about it. It feels to me that we need to system for strategies to make our societal technologies "electrical power down", so to talk, in the function that we stop to exist. A plague could wipe us out, we could all go bonkers and make up your mind to off ourselves – any quantity of stuff could come about to us, and at this stage, the facts we go away driving would obliviate the relaxation of living on Earth quicker or afterwards. (All those stockpiles of nuclear weaponry and nuclear strength plant cores can't keep safely and securely sealed away permanently, just after all). Would it not be a sign of our maturity as a species to prepare for the chance of our absence in this kind of a way as to enable the rest of the natural and organic world to have on without any us without any foisting on them horridly impossible ailments to prevail over?
Okay, so it really is a little bit pessimistic. But I just like staying neat I look forward to your next post
[...] to date, and informed on the subject. For an overall summery of the situation read this blog here http://sccc.org.au/archives/2186 and these other suggested sites http://www.enenews.com and http://fairewinds.com There is lots more [...]
First, ever wonder what the D.U.M.B.s are for? Just begin with “NOT for us,” and you’ll figure it out from there.
Second, at least TWO MORE nuclear power plants SINCE Fukushima have had “accidents.” I’ve always wondered why they weren’t using the storage areas they went to such trouble to create, or so they said, but they haven’t been. I’ve also wondered why these plants – over 400 of them, all over 20 years old now and that’s just the U.S. – are all on flood plains, on or near fault lines and so on. This is DEMANDING a number of “accidents,” and sooner rather than later. Then there are the news blackouts, the lack of spread of ANY real information…
And now consider Agenda 21, or the 1974 National Policy statement written Kissinger and his group. Also think of the Georgia Guidestones, etc. And just think about the Depopulation Agenda, and about all the poisons we’re all being exposed to, from toxic vaccines, to chen-trails, to GMOs, to food and water additives and on and on and on.
Lastly, look at the militarization of the U.S. police, the ruin of the Constitution, Posse Comitatis, the attacks on ALL of our liberties. Does this look to anyone else like a PLAN being put into action?

Just do me a favor and keep wriintg such trenchant analyses, OK?
sycamore7, said “I always understood that contributions for Bits’N'Bytes magazine & the Blog site were to be “computer related.”"
The club has for many years been more than a computer club, and that is why we have called the Caloundra, Buderim and Yandina venues “Technology Education Centres”. It is also why you will find articles on Digital TV, mobile phones, HiFi, LP records, blue ray players, electronic test equipment, energy saving, and tablets, amongst many other subjects written about in the Bits’N'Bytes and blogs over many years by myself, and other members.
This article was written under the blog heading “Health and Environmental Effects of Technology”. This area was created to provide a balanced view on modern technology. Just because it is technology, it is not necessarily good, and could have adverse health, or environmental effects.
I am pleased you noticed the article, but did you actually follow the links, or read it in detail?
I have done a lot of research into this event. I wrote the article after a lot of deliberation. A lot of our club members travel, and I felt it was necessary to inform them that some areas in the northern hemisphere are presently being contaminated with lots of radioactive fallout, and that fallout does not look like stopping soon. I felt it would be highly irresponsible of me not to inform them of the danger after all the research information I had gathered! At least this way they can make an informed decision. If this article saves their life, a family members, a grandchild’s, or friends life because they read, and passed on the information, I will be pleased. The mainstream media is still promoting travel to these areas. At least this way they are given the opportunity to do more research, and make a decision in their best interest.
Lots of manufactured articles and food products are produced in these radioactive fallout areas. Meat, fish, and dairy products are biologically concentrating the radiation. Ingested radiation through water, food and air is very dangerous because it is radiating directly to the cells next to the ingested radioactive particles.
In my opinion all food, and manufactured goods from these affected areas should be tested for radiation before being allowed into the country. That includes all electronic goods, including computers. Yes, I think it is that bad!
sycamore7,”I was shocked to see the one & half page document by Peter Daley on the “impending world wide nuclear disaster” To my mind this subject is not computer related but an exposition of the thinking of Peter Daley on the subject.”
sycamore7, you should be more shocked by the millions of men, women, and children who are going to die prematurely from the Fukushima nuclear disaster, that are not being evacuated from the worst of the radioactive fallout, or being informed how to protect themselves.
Clear, inorfamtive, simple. Could I send you some e-hugs?
I always understood that contributions for Bits'nBytes magazine & the Blog site were to be "computer related."
I was shocked to see the one & half page document by Peter Daley on the "impending world wide nuclear disaster" in Sep 11 Bits'nBytes Magazine & on this Blog site. To my mind this subject is not computer related but an exposition of the thinking of Peter Daley on the subject.
I do not want to get into an argument on the merits or otherwise of nuclear power. It is just that I cannot see the connection with Peter Daley's thoughts on the matter and computers.
I consider that the article is NOT suitable for inclusion in Bits'nBytes or on this Blog site.
If I communicated I could thank you enguoh for this, I’d be lying.
