Technology Predicting Earthquakes?

By Peter Daley · Comments (0)
Tuesday, March 29th, 2011

One of the greatest things about the Internet is that as an individual you can have access to some of the latest research information. Years ago this type of information would only have been available to top scientists in their field.

NASA scientists have proposed a new theory on the cause of major Earthquakes. If the magnetosphere is hit by Solar flares and CME (Coronal Mass Ejections) from the Sun, of a great enough intensity, it can cause what they call a space quake. This is equivalent to a earth quake of 5 or 6 on the Richter scale.

The theory goes that the solar flare, or CME of sufficient magnitude strikes the Earth's Magnetosphere, this places pressure on the Earth's tectonic plates and can cause Earthquakes. The Magnetosphere is a naturally formed magnetic field around the Earth created by the Earth's iron core, it protects the Earth against Solar flares and CME radiation.

Here is an analogy. Imagine that the Earth is like a a boiled egg that you have dropped. When you pick it up the egg shell is broken into many pieces. If you gently squeeze that egg, the shell, representing the Earth's tectonic plates that make up the Earth's crust, will move against each other. So when the solar flare or CME hits the Earth's magnetosphere, it squeezes it, which in turn puts pressure on the Earth's crust.

Both the recent New Zealand and Japanese Earth Quakes in 2011 occurred during an X chase solar flare activity which also caused a geomagnetic storms in the earth's magnetosphere. During the Japanese quake it was reported that the Earth's magnetosphere was also hit by a CME at the same time the X class flare hit.

Here is a site where you can monitor solar flare activity in real time.

http://www.n3kl.org/sun/status.html

This site will allow you to monitor Earthquake activity around the world in real time.

http://earthquake.usgs.gov/earthquakes/recenteqsww/

If this theory is correct, this info is great because it will give an idea when something may happen, it just won't indicate accurately where or when.

New discoveries suggest where and when may be able to be predicted. One study has found that satellites have been recording variations in ULF or VLF radio signals (Ultra/Very Low Frequency) signals from where Earthquakes were about to occur. Also slight increases in earth crust levels can be an indicator. So these two satellite projects are exploring these indicators to see if they can give an early warning of where an Earthquake may occur.

http://homelandsecuritynewswire.com/satellite-system-provide-earlier-earthquake-warnings

http://news.nationalgeographic.com/news/2004/07/0720_040720_earthquake.html

Another study has found that major earthquakes usually occur where there are large quartz deposits in the rock formations on fault lines. There appears to be more water in quartz deposits which allows more slippage in the crust at those points. This would also explain why electrical disturbances can appear before an Earthquake. Lights in the sky or animals who use magnetic field information to navigate becoming confused or dying, plus domestic pets acting strange. Think of the old crystal quartz radios. Quartz and mineral crystals in bed rocks under a lot of pressure would generate an electrical signal giving an indication of an impending quake.

So there appears to be significant advancements in in Earthquake predicting technologies. Putting it all together as an accurate predictor may be some years away.

The true cost of modern technology

By Peter Daley · Comments (0)
Tuesday, March 1st, 2011

By Peter Daley,

“Modern technology” is a deceptive term, a better description would be “Exploitive technology”.

Most modern technology is made to last three to five years if you're lucky. It has built in redundancy. It also appears by the pricing structure, that what you are purchasing is a bargain. A bit of investigation reveals you are actually paying more financially, environmentally, and emotionally, than you realize.

Ten years ago an average priced computer with a screen, keyboard and mouse, cost around $1,500 and lasted up to 10 years. Now a modern computer costs, with the above, around $1,000, but only lasts 3 to 5 years. So over the same period you have forked out $2,000 to $3,000, plus had the added cost and emotional stress of having to transfer your data to a new machine two to three times. It also means that you have created three times the environmental damage.

So in real terms you have been ripped off by the illusion of getting a bargain! Some would argue that the modern computer is faster, but then it is weighed down by bloated software that pretty well robs it of any gains in physical performance.

I saw a joke recently that pretty well sums this up.

If it ain't broke don't fix it.

A modern engineers take on that is "If it ain't broke add more features.

If you are going to have a technological systems changing so rapidly you need to have very efficient recycling systems in place to recycle all these resources back into production, or all we are going to end up with is a planet full of mounds of toxic junk. Have a look at this presentation which explains how our present production system works "Story of Stuff." The only reason for having a endless junk production cycle is that it makes a few very rich by concentrating wealth. I have nothing against people being wealthy and rich, but we have lost a sensible balance. More people are becoming collectively poorer while a few are becoming super rich.

The big question is does any of this mountain of electronics and gadgetry actually contribute to our personal and collective true wealth and happiness? It would seem wise to have all this enormous physical, financial and collective effort of technology focused onto collectively reducing world hunger and raising world living standards, and not producing endless junk.

How can we have a so called advanced civilization with some of the most advanced technology ever created, focusing most of its efforts on trivial entertainment devices and endless production of junk, when a third of the population is living in abject poverty?

This system, which is focused on making a few people incredibly rich by trashing the planet and wasting our collective resources in endless production of junk, while a third of the world starves, is morally sick. It would appear we need a better system.

The collective priorities for human life are universal.

Have fresh clean air to breath.

To have clean water to drink.

Have fresh food to eat.

Have good shelter.

For you and your children to live in a healthy safe environment.

To live in a free and supportive community, that understands that individual rights have to be balanced with social responsibility.

We have to look after each others interests which are all the same. This means collectively looking after Earth’s biosphere, because it is what sustains human life.

Our technology should be aimed at improving and sustaining the above, this is where our true collective wealth is! Using technologies that are destroying the collective priorities for human life is just craziness!

To me the sole aim of modern technology and production seems to be aimed at keeping a relatively small group very rich and powerful by keeping the majority entertained and distracted. The price we are paying for not paying attention to what is really happening is that our true wealth is being destroyed.

We need a new financial and technology system, one that supports the collective priorities for human life. A system that provides freedom and incentive but not at the selfish exploitation of other people and the environment.

Is there alien life in the Universe, and is human importance exaggerated?

By Peter Daley · Comments (0)
Sunday, December 5th, 2010

Think clearly and logically, the evidence speaks for itself.

There are an estimated 200 Billion galaxies in the visible universe. Our galaxy the Milky Way has an estimated 200 billion stars. There is estimated to be at least a trillion Earth like planets in the visible universe.

This does not include other planets that can support life in other forms. As this recent NASA announcement of the discovery of arsenic-based life form discovered on Earth points out.

These facts point to one very straight forward conclusion, the Universe is full of life!

It appears human beings have a very exaggerated sense of self importance. I think it is time for the human race to have bit of humility, and realize that the universe can very easily cope without its existence!

It may be a shame that potentially, humans had a chance to develop into a responsible universal citizens but blew it because of an exaggerated sense of individual, and group importance!

This psychotic sense of self importance has lead  to the view that we are masters of the universe. Look, we’re stuck on a small speck of dust in the middle of nowhere, in the unimaginable vastness of time and space. Yet we still haven’t learnt to live together, and help each other, and respect the delicacy of Earth’s biosphere.

How clear and obvious can the facts make it. If the human race is to flourish, and continue to exist, we collectively have to make  fundamental changes in our thinking, and actions.

Greed and power serve no purpose except to feed a psychotic sense of self importance.

Our survival depends on on our ability to cooperated, and live together, plus respect all the other life on the planet. The diversity of life on earth can survive without humans but humans can’t survive without that diversity. We share the Earth with other life on which we depend for our very survival. Our sense of owning the Earth is an illusion!

Clearly this also shows that we should have great humility in the face of the facts. Even on this planet our importance is not very significant. The planet and life will survive without us, and life in other forms will go on if we mess this up.

We collectively need to remove from power and influence those who beat their chests like primitive apes, saying to the rest of us, look  how much wealth I have accumulated, look how much power I have.

If we let these people have control over human destiny it will lead to our destruction. They only have their self interest at heart. We need to get everyone collectively focusing on, and looking after each others interests, which are quite simple really.

Collective Priorities for human life.

Have fresh clean air to breath.

To have clean water to drink.

Have fresh food to eat.

Have good shelter.

For you and your children to live in a healthy safe environment.

To live in a free and supportive community, that understands that individual rights have to be balanced with social responsibility.

For this to happen we have to look after each others interests which are all the same. This means  collectively looking after Earth’s biosphere, because it is what sustains human life.

Human technologies that destroy these precious life sustaining biosphere resources in their resource extraction, mass manufacture, distribution, or disposal should not be made.  The “Story of Stuff” explains the effect of the misuse of technology in our present system very well. Technology should be use for improving the quality of life and our biosphere, not for the creation of lots of junk that destroys it!

If there is a God, this God has created a spectacular universe. God does not need you, or anyone to impose what is a very distorted view of what God is on to other humans in attempt to feed an exaggerated sense of self importance. Because frankly no matter what religion you are you have absolutely no idea what God is. God created a huge expansive universe, we live in and on an immensely small speck of it.

Until we learn to live together, and cooperated with each other, I don’t see God letting us get any further.

Maybe this is a very wise part of Universal design. Learn to love and cooperated with each other, and respect the gift of the biosphere in which you live, or die out. This seems to me to be a very effective law of the universe whether you believe in God or not.

Technologly, freedom and destiny!

By Peter Daley · Comments (0)
Sunday, October 10th, 2010

The advance and power of technology is increasing exponentially! The technology we see and use now is already outdated.  The reality is that the technologies available to governments and corporations are 50 to 100 years in advance of what we are presently using. Here is an example

Technology is greatly influencing human destiny.  You are constantly playing with all the latest tech., toys and gadgets that are replaced with a new model every year, or so, keeping you entertained, and amused. This in itself is a system of control, and mass manipulation, go to this “Story of Stuff” web site and watch the informative free movies and get a really clear picture of how the present system was set up, and how it works.

The real powerful advances in technology are being used to take global control. Here is one example. There is strong evidence at present that there are secret weather control experiments being conducted in Australia to influence the weather and make Australia greener. Australia is a large land area but most of it is arid, or desert. Since the 15th January 2010 there have been strange patterns appearing in the Australian weather radar systems all over the country. The Colin Andrews web site has an extensive chronicle of these events.  Most Australians don’t even know this has been happening. It is not reported in the main stream press. It has been so obvious to those who have been watching, that the Australian Government Weather Bureau has had to place a notice at the top of the national radar loop web site.  Who is conducting these weather experiments? These strange radar patterns have now been seen over other countries. If you can control the weather you can control the world.

Technology is not just the physical tech. objects, but the ability to gather information and correlate it for use. Governments  and corporations now have an unprecedented ability to monitor pretty well everything you do as an individual, or group, from what you purchase, to where you travel, who are your friends and associates, to what your politics and religious beliefs are. The technology is already such that they can predict, or influence how you, or your group will react during  a crisis, or political upheaval.

Your phone conversations are monitored for keywords and phrases to see if you pose a threat to the established order. Why do you think that governments like India, United Arab Emirates were threatening to ban the sale of the Blackberry Smart Phone. The sophisticated encryption would not allow them to monitor their citizens smart phones! Go to YouTube and type in “mobile phone spying” into the search facility, to become informed on this subject. This is just what the average person can do to spy on you, governments and corporation have much more sophisticated technologies!

The technologies available to governments and corporations is 50 to 100 years in advanced to what you now see before you.

Wake up!

How are the corporate governments using it?

To advance humanity, or to take total control?

Where is the debate on these technologies?

You are being kept in the dark on some of the most powerful and influential technologies ever created. The people in control of these technologies now have have unprecedented control of you, and human destiny.

Transhumanism is another important future technology issue. Search for and watch some of the Transhumanism documentaries at http://www.youtube.com/

Will this create another human underclass as only the rich may benefit?

Do we really want this future?

Future generations demand we ask these questions now and take back our future!

Turned Off By Standby

By Peter Daley · Comments (0)
Monday, June 28th, 2010

by Peter Daley

In this modern age we have all these wonderful gadgets that for convenience are designed to  instantly turn on. So you come home from work and grab the remote and turn on the TV.

Most people don’t realise for the TV to be able to be turned on via the remote, it was never actually turned off. That’s right, the on/off button on all those remotes does not actually  turn anything off completely. There is always mains power connected directly to the TV, stereo or computer when they’re in this standby mode. OK, it is using less power, but it is not turned off.

So what is the price of all this instant turn on convenience.

1. Approximately 10% of your electricity bill is simply being used to keep all these devices ready to be turned on instantly. All the devices in standby mode are directly connected to the mains and constantly on 24 hours a day. Ok, at a lower power use, but still on. They’re costing you money and polluting the environment with tons of green house gases.

If enough people just took the time to turn the TV, Stereo, or computer off at the wall, the nation would instantly cut it’s power consumption by around 10%. You could potentially save 10% or more off your electricity bill. This depends on the number of devices you have in standby mode. I’m talking averages here. That is a big plus for the environment and your hip pocket.

(Note: Some devices will lose their timer, or record settings if you turn them off at the wall. You will need to reset everything again!)

2. More so during the storm season, electrical surges and power outages caused by lighting and high winds, damage large numbers of consumer electronics. Why? Storm generated surges and power fluctuations blow them up because the devices are still on and connected to the mains. This can simply be prevented, by just turning the devices off completely, using the mains switch at the wall. People have not been educated about the importance off turning all these devices off at the wall when they go out, hear that storm coming or when going to bed at night.

3. There is also a fire risk. Ideally no electronic device should be left on or in standby mode unattended. A lot of this stuff is made cheap, and you’re betting your home and your families life on it’s reliability. All electronic devices will eventually fail, no matter how well they’re made, and a percentage go up in smoke.

So turn all those electronic devices off at the wall switch when you’re leaving the room for any length of time, going out, going to bed at night, or when you hear that storm. Train the whole family in the importance of this. So by the flick of a switch you can save money, and clean up the environment, plus increase the safety of your home, your family and yourself. Wow, if everything was that simple!

What Wireless Security?

By Peter Daley · Comments (0)
Monday, January 4th, 2010

by Peter Daley

The statistics are pretty frightening, 70% of home, and small business wireless routers providing broadband connections, have no security on them. In reply to a previous blog I had written in a local newspaper, I was urged by a post to write an article on wireless security, after the person had this experience.

“I’ve recently started taking my laptop on the train in order to do some work. I decided to fire up a great bit of software called Network Stumbler. This software uses the wireless network card in my laptop to record the details of every wireless network it finds. In 10 minutes I passed by around 50 networks, 7 of which were completely unsecured.”

Look, you have been sold a pup. Computers where never intended to be used for financial transactions. I know, they are widely promoted to do this. Great for the banks and the IT industry, promoting it as a convenient way to improve your life style. They make money, but this technology is not certified, or made secure enough to do this safely.

Would you use an ATM provided by your local bank, if you knew it was not certified by the regulatory authorities, did not have proper security on it, or if it was purchased on the cheap from a foreign country in a manufacturing plant with no security clearance? Well what do you think your computer is!

Wireless systems are another good example of this. You’re encouraged to ditch all those old fashioned wired connected devices, and go wireless. It just makes everything neater and accessible from anywhere. The truth is, that if you are using your computer for financial transactions of any kind, you should not use an in house wireless system. Use a cable to connect your computer to your broadband modem. If you’re using wireless at present, turn off the wireless feature, and use a network cable connection. It’s just a whole lot safer, as long as you follow my instruction in this blog on securing your broardband modem.

If you have some technical skill, or employ a professional to set up that wireless broadband router security correctly, it will be a lot safer. Even then, people with a good skill level can download the tools necessary to break in to most in house wireless systems fairly easily. Not that they would need to bother with downloading the tools, as most systems don’t have any security!

Wireless War driving is a pastime in a lot of locations now. This is where someone sticks an aerial on their car, and drives around to see what wireless systems they can break into. They then infect the system to take control of it, gather personal information, banking info, or just use the victims computer to download or send files. Wireless hacks are local, not from the Internet.

If you’re running a business with wireless systems in house, you need to take more care, because your financial info, client data, and commercial secrets are at risk. A wireless system is basically a radio station, transmitting and receiving information. To anyone who can detect, and connect to it, it’s like opening all your doors and windows, and inviting them in. I have heard numerous stories where locals have bragged that they don’t need to pay for a broadband connection, they just use their neighbours!

Often I am asked the question, why a person’s Internet access charges have sky rocketed. Most likely because someone is using their in house wireless broadband connection, or they have a virus. Everyone needs to get up to speed on all these security issues, so you can protect yourself. As a community service in my previous blogs, I have put in a lot of effort to educating readers, and providing solutions to the increasing security threats.

If you insist on using wireless, read this blog on securing it. There are also heath concerns about using computer wireless technology, as it is working in a similar frequency band to mobile phones. Read this article.

The fact is, consumers should be demanding security, over features and convenience!

How to get big savings on your electricity bill!

By Peter Daley · Comments (0)
Sunday, November 1st, 2009

by Peter Daley

The cost of electricity is going up world wide, so get smart and save yourself heaps of money.

If they follow through with these suggestions, businesses, and families can potentially save a mint off their yearly electricity bill. The hot water system is the equivalent of a small family car sitting in the garage with the motor idling. It is producing huge amounts of CO2 and costing lots of money to run.

OK, turning your air conditioner to a slightly warmer temperature, plus turning off appliances, computers, lights and gadgets, at the wall when not in use can save you lots of money. An item often overlooked for significant savings is the hot water system.

Independent of politics, environment issues, or the fact you may not accept global warming as beingcaused by CO2 emissions, setting your hot water system to work efficiently can save you a lot of money per year. If you have concerns about the effects we’re having on the environment, this is a huge bonus, as it will significantly cut down on your CO2 emissions footprint!

Firstly check on your electricity bill to see whether your hot water system is on an off peak tariff. If in doubt call your electricity company, and ask what tariff your hot water system is on. Electricity companies will give you big discounts if you have your hot water on an off peak switch. This means your hot water system is turned on, and off remotely, when their generation load is less. This will be shown on your present electricity bill.

For domestic use in Australia the cheapest tariff for this purpose is referred to as tariff 31, the next best is tariff 33. Businesses check with your supplier as to what is the cheapest tariff for your purposes. If your hot water system isn’t on the off peak tariff, it will be well worth getting an off peak switch installed in the meter box. Getting yourself onto the cheaper tariff can potentially take 30% to 50% of your electricity bill! It will probably cost around A$150 to get one of these switches installed in your meter box by a qualified electrician, for a domestic use. Small price to pay, compared to the over all cost of your ongoing electricity bill.

Here is a list of the pricing for the different tariffs. Just look at the large savings that can be made. It does very in price from state to state and supplier. Tariff 11: 14.04 cents per Kwh. This is the normal domestic tariff for lighting and general power use. If your hot water is operating on this tariff you’re paying heaps more for your electricity than you should.

Tariff 33: 8.44 cents per Kwh. Next best money saving tariff.

Tariff 31: 5.73 cents per Kwh. Best money saving tariff. (Prices as of August 2007)

If your hot water system is not on the cheapest tariff you will have your hot water system wasting lots of electricity, generating lots of CO2 , and affecting your hip pocket for absolutely no reason. OK, leave it on the expensive tariff if you like making a donation to the electricity company.

Now go and have a look at you hot water system. If it is electric you will find a valve for topping up the hot water reserve inside the system. This is usually a pull up lever or tap. Switch on the valve and wait until you hear the water flow out through the overflow. This indicates the system is full. Now turn off the top up valve. This will make maximum use of the electricity that is used to heat the water. You should top up the hot water system regularly to get maximum efficiency from your hot water system.

Get and electrician to see if your hot water system can safely be turned down to a medium or low temperature setting on its thermostat. Most hot water systems are set to high on instillation, and large percentage of you could easily get away with a medium or low thermostat temperature setting. It can always be turned back if you don’t like it. Doing this can potentially half your electricity bill. Even Solar hot water systems have a small hot water booster system connected to the mains power so you can get hot water on cloudy days. This also has a thermostat that can be also adjusted.

(Warning: If you set your hot water system to too low a temperature it can encourage the growth of dangerous bacteria, so consult your electrician about the best setting for your particular environment.)

For those of you who want to take it a bit further you can also get more savings by using special insulation blankets that you can purchase to cover the hot water system that can improve its efficiency, plus you can insulated the hot water pipes.

Tell your friends and relatives to check this out so they can save as well. If you have any uncertainty about how to implement any of the suggestions here please consult your electrician.

The Future of Energy Technologies, good or bad? Peak Oil!

By Peter Daley · Comments (0)
Monday, October 12th, 2009

By Peter Daley

If you haven’t already realized it, we have probably passed peak oil. The amount of oil available is dwindling, so the price of it can only go up and up, plus the cost of everything else!  In my opinion the American economy is collapsing because they have enormous debt, and the cost of oil hitting $150 a barrel last year sent them over the edge. For every 10c increase in the cost of fuel takes 40 million dollars a day out of the American economy, that would normally be spent on other things.

If you think the electric car is the way to go, the only thing it will do is shift the pollution from the cities to the power stations. A recent German study found taking every thing into account from manufacture to ownership, electric cars will probably only make a 1% difference to overall energy efficiency. Globally, large numbers of new coal, gas, or nuclear power stations will be needed to power all the extra electric cars,  industry, and homes plugged into the power grids. Germany has 40 million cars alone, so imagine all the German car owners plugging in their electric cars into their power grid to charge them. How many more power stations will have to be built just for Germany alone to provide power for 40 million cars? Now imaging that world wide!

Lots more water will be needed to cool those new power stations. If we have a water shortage now, where is all that extra water going to come from for cooling the new power stations? A solution would be to float the power stations on the ocean. (No shortage of water for cooling!) Then use the energy, normally wasted cooling power stations, to power desalination plants.

Governments worldwide have have already started to build the infrastructure for floating nuclear power stations combined with desalination plants! Look it up on the Internet, there is tons of info on, “floating nuclear power stations and desalination”. This type of technology is already available and has a proven tract record over decades in nuclear ice breakers and warships. It is very easy to park floating nuclear power plant in the ocean and attach it to a desalination plant. You very quickly solve a number of problems.

1.No water shortage for cooling nuclear power plants parked on the ocean.
2.Power stations right next to where the power is needed for most major cities.
3.You make use of that wasted energy for cooling the nuclear reactor, to generate lots of fresh water.
4.This value adds your electricity production, because you can sell the fresh water for a price.

Governments worldwide appear to building the desalination plants first. Manly because as long as everyone is convinced there are water shortages, people will have less opposition to their construction. Convincing most of you to have a floating nuclear power plant or land based nuclear power plant parked next to the desalination system is another thing. Particularly if one is parked in your back yard.

They will need to convince you that there are major water, and energy shortages and the only way ahead is nuclear. OK it will be watered down a bit by throwing in electric cars, wind, and solar farms to make it look socially, and environmentally responsible. There is no way electric cars, wind, and solar farms are going to provide all the energy efficiency that is required to have ever increasing economic growth. If you have an world economy growing by 7% per year over ten years, collectively the world will have consumed more in resources and energy in that 10 year period, than has been consumed in all the history of the world before it!

Where is all that energy and resources going to come from, particularly if one of your main sources of energy “Oil” is drying up!  It is not just about the demand exceeding supply, but that what is left is getting harder and more expensive to extract.

If everyone wants two, or three cars per family, a large flat screen TV set, computers in every room of the house that are replaced every 3 to 5 years, plus a large house with a double garage etc., we don’t stand a chance.  We are approaching 7 billion residence on this planet, common sense says stop! This is just madness. This indulgence is all going to need a lot of power and resources to sustain it, and a lot of the world population is going to have to miss out, or we are going to end up with planet junk not planet Earth!

So as far as I can see there are a number of solutions.

1.You drastically reduce the world population. Who is going to decide who stays, and who goes. Maybe that decision has already been made for us?

2.You keep a large part of the population poor and struggling, and only allow an elite few to have power, and wealth. (Just more of our present system repackaged.)

3. We collectively drastically reduce personal energy, and resources use.

We need to refocus how we do things.  How about an economy based on people, and not things. Instead of Gross national product how about Gross national happiness? It is time to think clearly. After all, an economy is just an exchange of energy. We have to change direction, for the benefit of everyone, with the positive use of technology.  It will also mean a global consciousness shift,  or are we going to wait until we are on the edge of the precipice?

The question is, what  future do we want for ourselves, and our children?

If we don’t change, we will end up with loss of personal freedoms, (already happening) lots of nuclear power plants, (on the way)  and lots more junk cluttering the planet!

Interestingly, the worlds Uranium resources would only last around 25 years if demand for it to power nuclear plants increased significantly! Plus, you need lots energy from oil to build the new nuclear plants in the first place.

Are most of you addicted to Pornography?

It may come as a big surprise but all the statistics are telling one thing, most of you are looking at porn. 70% of men and 30% of women visit porno sites regularly. To be quite honest, I was very surprised that such a large number of women looked at porn. I am not being the moralist here, I am just pointing out the facts. Religious people are not exempt. Pointing out that the devil is going to get you if you look at this stuff doesn’t seem to help, as 70% of religious people are struggling with it. A quarter of all searches on the Internet are for pornography and 12% of all web sites are pornographic.

This situation is unprecedented in human history, where technology has made pornography so wide spread and readily available. It has also created a large number or porno addicts. This is serious stuff, with 10% of adults in surveys admitting they are Internet porn addicts! These people can get so addicted to this, so much so that their lives are consumed by it. It can create serious problems in families and relationships. Teenage men can get a very distorted view of what women want in a relationship, because of the pornography sites. A family with a porno addicted member can suffer as much as having an addicted drug or alcohol member. If the 10% of adults admitting they are porn addicts is correct, it means we have a very serious social problem.

I think it is time to say this is a really huge problem, and we need to do some very smart things to get people to look at themselves, and change their habits. OK, it may be a great story to point out that a couple guys got thrown out of the local library for viewing porn on the library computers. It does not bring across how huge a problem this is. There are large numbers of families and people who are struggling with it This is one of those subjects that people just don’t talk about.

Large numbers of young men are addicted to it. 90% of 8 to 16 year olds look at porn. Obviously it is so readily available that you can’t stop them accessing it. Even if you put restrictions on your computer, all they need to do is visit friends or neighbours, and use their computer or mobile. I have heard stories about this, it is a big issue and getting worse.

Pornography is big business there are lots of people making lots of money out of it. They are a powerful industry who lobby governments. They’re not interested in your well being. They are relying on very simple human biological programming, to exploit your behaviour.

This addiction affects national productivity, with large numbers of people viewing pornography while at work. Most porn views happen during 9 to 5 pm. The statistics suggest this is a huge social problem that is going to need a collective effort to deal with it. Here are some suggestions.

a. It pointless trying to ban it. Whenever some thing like this is banned, all that happens is it goes underground. It is impossible to ban anyway, because of the way the Internet works.

b. I think one important thing we need to do, is to get the young early, and educated them in what is considered good behaviour in a relationship. Educate them, show them how badly some of these women are treated, and how porn is a distorted expression of what women really want. It is important to convey just how pornography can affect them personally, and those who work in the industry.

c. Have adult education and treatment systems set up on a local, state and national level.

d. This has to be a collective effort.

No one in their right mind would want to work in this industry. Think about that! They must be very badly hurt emotionally, or being grossly exploited. Large numbers of women in the sex industry are drug addicted/enslaved, or grossly exploited, and by looking at this stuff you are supporting this abuse.

Technology Stressed!

Feel everything is speeding up?

Don't seem to have enough time in the day to do everything?

Well, welcome to the modern technological world!

(Read the free online book at the bottom of this blog, and learn to RELAX.)

In a modern world, your brain has to constantly process huge amounts of information, at a speed it wasn't biologically designed for. Sitting in that cave in the stone age, our ancestors didn't have the constant stream of mobile phone calls, emails, and SMS messages to deal with, plus the barrage of information from, TV, radio, and the Internet.

Most people are in information overload, plus modern devices offer so many features and choices, making the correct decision, “Which button to push?” can generate decision anxiety. If you make the wrong choice, the thing could stop working, and you could spend lots of time and money, getting it back into working order. Modern technology is everywhere, and the majority of people don't know how to use it properly, so it causes a lot of frustration. Also, it is built to a price of cheap, and cheaper, so it's all designed to fail at some point, (if you're lucky, 3 to 5 years) and usually when you need it most.

On top of all this, you now have people like me, writing scary blogs about how modern technology is making it easy for the bad guys to pinch your money :-)

The average person is on the verge of being overwhelmed, when the technology is working, and in meltdown when it isn't. I now make sure I put a free book on Stress Management, which I wrote as a community service, on the desktop of all computers I work on.

It's a matter of you being in charge of the technology, and not the technology being in charge of you. Realize the limitations of the technology, and don't rely on it. It's not all its cracked up to be!

When the phone rings, or your messenger program rings, do you drop everything and run to it? Do the rest of the family end up with foot prints all over them, as you scramble to the phone? Wise family members have learnt to step out of your way. This is also generally the only time you get exercise.

If your mobile rings, do you immediately answer it, even if you're driving? Naughty!

Do you sleep with your mobile phone next to you?

Do you rant and rave at the computer, or mobile, when it doesn't work the way you want it to? Life is a misery for anyone unlucky enough to be close by, during one of these incidences!

If your answer to any of these scenarios is Yes, technology is in charge of you.

Working in a modern world is all about balance. Having a quite time everyday, when you turn off all the devices, and don't answer the phone etc. is a good idea. If you can't do this, you're a serious case, and need profession help. :-) This could be the vast majority of the population!

Here are the golden rules to having a stress free life style.

Rest. Have a set period everyday, which you spend practising relaxation for 15 to 20 minutes, or more.

Eat a well balanced diet, with plenty of fresh fruit, vegetables and whole grains. Relax and enjoy your food when eating.

Liquids. Drink plenty of liquids during the day. They help flush the toxins out of your body. (No, alcohol is not counted.)

Attitude. Having a positive attitude to life, is important to your health and happiness.

e Xercise. It is important to do 15 to 20 minutes of exercise every day. It keeps the body oiled and working well, plus it burns up that excess adrenaline, pumping around your body.

Yes, I realize that the above list spells out RELAX. Ok, except for the eXercise word. The other golden rule is to be flexible in your thinking!

Read my free book on line here, to get the complete story. You can give it to as many people as you like, it's free. You can even put it on your web site if you like.
