If you haven't already, please use this test chat room to hone your skills before joining the proper sccc talky chat.
You can try the test chat room by clicking this link.
https://talky.io/sccctestchat?password=981
This will take you into the SCCC test chat room. The password to access the secure chat room is part of the link.
Every time you click on the link a talky opening setup page will open. To the middle right of this talky web page you will see Speakers, Camera, and Microphone. Use the grey downward pointing arrow button to the right of each selection box to select which Speakers, Camera, and Microphone to use. Each of these items listed should be selected, and in the pop up box that appears in your web browser click "Allow". This will allow your web browser to make use of these devices.
After doing this, you can test if your speakers are working by clicking on, "Test Speaker".
Also, if your camera is working, you will see your image in the camera view.
A sound level meter will appear below the Microphone item once it is on and working. The Microphone level should be around a third to half way when you speak. If not, you will need to adjust the microphone level in your computer or device sound settings.
After you have done all the above just click the big blue "Join Call" button.
Once entering the chat room experiment with all the settings. If you make a mistake or get lost, hang up or leave, by simply clicking the phone symbol above your image in the camera view, on the left. Then come back to this bulletin item, and click the link to join the test chat room again.
If you can't get the microphone or video working, you can still join the chat, and use the text chat function. It is located at bottom right of the chat room screen. You may need to scroll down the chat room page to see and access the chat function.
As we don't know how many members are interested in joining the weekly club chat sessions, please indicate your interest by sending an email to this address.
meetingopeningsurvey@sccc.org.au
If a large number of members are interested, we will divide the members into different groups and meeting times. If we don't do this there maybe insufficient internet bandwidth for everyone who joins the video chat session.
After you send in your interest to join, you will receive an email from meetingopeningsurvey@sccc.org.au with the link to the official sccc chat room. So to join the main chat room, do not use the sccc test chat link provided above, as it is only set up for training purposes. We need everyone interested to try the test chat room first. This is so we don't need to spend a lot of time getting everyone up to speed on how it all works.
There will be Q & A, and other technical subjects discussed in the club talky chat sessions. We will refine these session over time. If you are having difficulty getting talky working, meetingopeningsurvey@sccc.org.au
